Manchester United have recently been linked with an interest in Brighton forward Leandro Trossard and as per the latest rumours, now Arsenal are also ready to join the pool.

Leandro Trossard is about to enter the final year of his contract meaning he could be available for a bargain summer deal and this seems to have spiked the interest of the two Premier League giants.

The 27-year-old is primarily a winger but he has the capability of playing in as many as five positions, in and around the final third plus the Belgian international has played in more than 100 games for Brighton ever since joining them in 2019.

Is Leandro Trossard worth a transfer battle for either of the two interested clubs?

Paul Merson, in his most recent column, has come out to heap praise on Leandro Trossard, suggesting that not only Manchester United but several other clubs should also try and go after him.

In his Sportskeeda column, Merson said: “He could go play for Manchester United or someone like that. The fans will have a moan and question why a club of Manchester United’s stature should go in for a player like this, but he ticks a lot of boxes, even for teams like Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

“Trossard is such an intelligent footballer and a special, special players on his day. He isn’t always consistent, but he’s capable of playing in multiple positions across the frontline and moves the ball around well, I just don’t feel like he gets the accolades he deserves because he plays for Brighton.

“I just like the way Trossard plays and have always felt that he’s a bit underrated. No disrespect to Brighton, but he can go higher and easily turn out for one of the top teams in the Premier League.”

The 27-year-old is no doubt a wonderful talent but we doubt if Erik ten Hag will be seriously interested in him. Yes, he is a very versatile player but he is primarily a left-winger and United already have Jadon Sancho and Rashford in that position.

We highly doubt if United will make any concrete move for Trossard however for Arsenal, it can be a totally different scenario.

The Gunners can certainly use a player like him and since he might be available in a cut-price deal, Mikel Arteta could very well make a move for him.

Once Arsenal secure the signings of Gabriel Jesus and Tielemans, they would have sorted out their two biggest vulnerabilities and then they will have the luxury to focus on the other patchy areas of their squad.

Leandro Trossard is someone who can be a great asset for Arsenal, especially since after Aubameyang left in January, Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe have been playing down the left so that position is very much up for grabs.
