Brendan Rodgers Leicester City vs Man United
Brendan Rodgers Leicester City

Leicester City have seen their form dip in recent weeks and if they are not careful enough then they could drop points in their fourth consecutive game.

The Foxes have not won in their previous three outings and this record could stretch one more week as they face league leaders Chelsea on Saturday.

The Blues have lost only a single match in the Premier League this season and are currently sitting at the top with a three-point gap. Leicester, on the other hand, are 12th on the table with only 15 points against their name.

Brendan Rodgers is being constantly linked with the job at Manchester United so this game will be a real test for both the manager as well as the team. If his players cannot come up with the goods against a team like Chelsea then there’s every chance that Rodgers could be tempted to head out and manage a much more valuable and star-studded side in the form of Man United.

Leicester City though have a pretty decent record vs Chelsea having won two out of their previous three meetings but with the kind of form that the Blues are in this season, it will be really hard for the home side to pick up all three points.

Leicester City team news vs Chelsea:

Brendan Rodgers used a 4-3-3 system against Leeds United in their 1-1 draw but the manager is expected to slightly alter his formation after Tielemans picked up that calf injury.

The midfielder picked up the injury in the 77th minute vs Leeds which is why he had to pull out of the Belgium squad during the international break.

After that match, Brendan Rodgers had said: “His calf was sore. It’s a little bit of a worry, but we’ll just have to see what that looks like on a scan.”

The manager is yet to provide an update meaning Tielemans still remains a doubt for Saturday’s encounter.

If he is not fully fit and available then Leicester should line up with two defensive midfielders – Soumare and Ndidi.

James Maddison was good enough to find a place on the bench(playing only 10 minutes) last time out but he is more or less a guaranteed starter against Chelsea.

Maddison will be the creative fulcrum for Leicester City as he plays in the hole just behind Jamie Vardy.

Apart from these players like James Justin, Fofana and Marc Albrighton remain long-term absentees meaning the Leicester City boss cannot afford to make wholesale changes to his starting line up.

Ademola Lookman put in a fine shift on the right wing vs Leeds so he is going to hold onto his place ahead of Ayoze Perez.

Jamie Vardy has netted seven goals in 11 Premier League games this season so he will obviously lead the line vs Chelsea but Brendan Rodgers has proper backups in the form of Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka.

Leicester City predicted line up vs Chelsea:

Predicted Starting XI(4-3-2-1): Schmeichel: Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Pereira, Castagne; Soumare/Tielemans, Ndidi; Harvey Barnes, Maddison, Lookman; Jamie Vardy.
