4-2-3-1 Leicester City’s predicted line up vs Man City: Evans to return in defence?

Leicester City have made a pretty stable start to their Premier League campaign, winning two out of their three games. But they now have a mountain to climb next weekend.

Leicester take on Manchester City at home on Saturday and not only will Brendan Rodgers have to try and pick up something from this game but he will also have one eye on their Europa League game next week.

The Foxes face Napoli in the UEL next week and with the long list of injuries that he has, Rodgers will have to rotate his squad very smartly.

City are obviously the favourites to win this weekend but Leicester City won’t be fazed with their stature since they just defeated them in the Community Shield last month. Having said that, Man City have netted 10 goals in their last two matches so the home side will have to squeeze out every ounce of their energy if they wish to pick up even a point.

Leicester City team news vs Manchester City:

Jonny Evans and Jannik Vestergaard are both facing a race against time to be fully fit and the manager has confirmed in his press conference that the two players will go through a late fitness test to determine their availability.

He said on Thursday: “Jonny Evans and Jannik Vestergaard are progressing very, very well. We’ve had a good international break with getting players [game time] and increasing their fitness level, so hopefully all those players should be fit and available.

“That’s what we have to assess going into this last 24 hours, just where they’re at. We had a training game last week here at the training ground that they both played in and they came through that.

“They’re not going to be 100 per cent, of course. We now have only three substitutes, so there’s a strategy going into the game. We have to be as sure as we possibly can in terms of how long the players can last, but we’ll see where we’re at before we finalise the team.”

We don’t think Vestergaard will make it into the starting line up but Evans has a big chance to start alongside Soyuncu.

Ryan Bertrand should be available again but we will have to wait and see if the Leicester City manager is ready to take youngster Luke Thomas off or not.

Ricardo Pereira is still on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and is not going to feature in the matchday squad.

Ayoze Pérez remains suspended because of the red card so Albrighton and Harvey Barnes are going to be the two wide players with Jamie Vardy operating from the middle.
