Leicester City team news vs West Ham United: Will Vestergaard start?

Brendan Rodgers Leicester City

Leicester City got their campaign off to a winning start by beating Wolves at home but their next match will be a much sterner test as they take on West Ham United.

The Foxes put up a fine display against Wolves but the Hammers are a notch above them and given that this is their first away game of the new Premier League season, a lot can go wrong for Vardy and co.

Last season, only Man United and Man City picked up more points on the road than Leicester City so that will give Brendan Rodgers some heart before heading to the London Stadium. But surprisingly, they failed to beat the Hammers in this same fixture last time around.

Brendan Rodgers has a few injury issues to deal with going into Monday’s match but the manager does have pretty good bench strength so naming a strong starting line-up should not be a problem for him.

Leicester City team news vs West Ham United:

With Jonny Evans still out injured, Daniel Amartey started in central defence alongside Soyuncu but now that the club have brought in Vestergaard, the new signing will feature in place of Amartey.

Wesley Fofana has a long road to recovery and as per the initial reports, he is going to be out for at least 6 to 8 months.

Luke Thomas and Pereira will keep their place in the starting line-up as the two full-backs.

Ndidi and Youri Tielemans had a great outing against Wolves in matchweek one but the pair will have to be on their toes now that they are facing West Ham United. According to Whoscored, they were amongst the highest-rated players for the Foxes.

The manager also has the option of calling on Hamza Choudhury if he wants to freshen things up in the second half.

James Maddison picked up a slight lower back injury last weekend but he will be ok to reprise his role as the No 10.

Jamie Vardy scored the only goal for Leicester City last weekend and he will get the nod ahead of Iheanacho and Patson Daka.

Timothy Castagne is not expected to play any part against the Hammers while James Justin remains a long-term absentee for the club.
