Liverpool face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium this weekend and according to Mirror’s senior sports reporter, Mark Jones, Jurgen Klopp could use both Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in central defence.

He wrote: “New Liverpool duo Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies stepped up their fitness on Wednesday as Liverpool prepared for their trip to Leicester City.

“The Liverpool boss – who has paid tribute to his late mother Elisabeth after the sad news of her death in January was reported on Wednesday – seems set to pick one of Kabak or Davies to start at the King Power, with his three senior centre-backs all still out injured.

“Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have operated in the position in recent matches, and the Reds skipper will no doubt be hoping for a return to midfield in the not too distant future.”

Will both Ozan Kabak & Ben Davies start vs Leicester City?

With so many defensive injuries, Liverpool had no other option but to sign the duo during the January transfer window but they are yet to feature for the Reds in the Premier League.

And with Liverpool getting back into the Champions League next week, this could be the perfect time to rotate the squad and use the new arrivals in the starting XI. This would also means that both Fabinho and Henderson will be freed and can then come back into their usual midfield roles.

But Leicester City are one of the best teams in the land so we doubt if Klopp will throw both January signings into the fire.

Either Kabak or Davies will get the opportunity to start in defence alongside Fabinho while the other remains on the bench. Jordan Henderson might replace the misfiring Thiago Alcantara in defensive midfield.

Liverpool take on RB Leipzig next week and Jurgen Klopp will not want to go into that game with the possibility of losing out on the Premier League title race.
