Premier League side Arsenal are no longer interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey meaning Aston Villa are now the favourites to land the 23-year-old.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners have decided to pull the plug on the signing because they fear the player has attitude problems.

The exclusive report claims: “Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Leon Bailey in a major boost to Aston Villa, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

“The Gunners registered their interest in the Bayer Leverkusen winger, 23, along with Villa and other Premier League clubs.

“But an Arsenal source has told Football Insider that they are no longer pursuing Bailey. They conducted background checks on the wide forward and learned of “attitude” issues.”

Leon Bailey en-route to Aston Villa now?

Aston Villa have been linked with the Leverkusen winger for a few weeks now and according to Sky Sports, Dean Smith has now Leon Bailey marked out as one of his top priority signings for the summer.

Villa have seen multiple bids being rejected for Emile Smith Rowe and this is one big reason why Smith is so keen to add Leon Bailey to his squad.

Mikel Arteta wanted to replace Willian with Leon Bailey but no club is ready to sign the Brazilian right now so it will be totally unnecessary to add another right winger to the squad(inflating the wage bills even further).

Leon Bailey played in 30 Bundesliga games last season for Leverkusen, scoring and assisting nine goals. And the 23-year-old would have been a perfect addition to the Arsenal squad for the new campaign.

But by dropping their interest in the Jamaican international, Mikel Arteta has made it pretty clear that he is only going to take in players who believe in his project and are not going to cause any sort of dressing room debacles for him.
