Arsenal will travel to Anfield next weekend to take on Liverpool in matchweek 3 of the English Premier League. But going into this match, Unai Emery will not have very good flashbacks.
Last season, this same fixture drew a result of 5-1 in favour of Liverpool as each one of the Liverpool attackers got their name on the scoresheet.
Roberto Firmino scored a hat-trick with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane getting the other two goals.
But shockingly, Arsenal defender Sokratis has gone on to claim that handling the Liverpool attacking trio will be a much easier job as compared to playing against the Burnley attackers.
Here’s why.
The defender said: “But the 5-1 last season…it was not the game to take five goals – [there was] the penalty kicks, we made mistakes. I think this year will be different, but we have to improve of course from the work we do with the coach and his staff.
“We have to be prepared for this game. It will be difficult of course.
“It was not only this game we learned from [last season]. We learned from Chelsea, Manchester City.
“We know already to be at this level you have to improve and to have more confidence and character when you go to play there.
“We have to go there and play our game. We have to have confidence and be together for 90 minutes.
“It is a different game [from Burnley]. If they are on good day and you are having a bad day, it is hard.
“I think that we have to go and play our game. Maybe it is more easy because you don’t have to fight a lot – but they also play football,
“In the end, we know that it is difficult and we respect Liverpool a lot. But I think the best [way] is to go and play our style of game. We will see what happens.”
Many fans are expecting Liverpool go on a similar rampage as last season but this time around, the Gunners look much more solid in defence especially with the addition of David Luiz.
So while Jurgen Klopp’s men might still end up winning this match, we do not expect it to be a goal-fest.
