Liverpool suffered yet another defeat in the Premier League, this time losing 3-1 to Leicester City on Saturday. And with this loss, Klopp’s title defence might well and truly be over.

Liverpool took a 1-0 lead in the match but it was a 10-minute period during the final quarter of the match which saw the Reds crumble under pressure as the Foxes scored three goals in quick succession.

This result means the Anfield outfit remain fourth on the league table but despite the dropped points, pundit Michael Owen seems to be happy with how his former side had played at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

“Liverpool came out and they played brilliant,” the former striker told Premier League Productions, as quoted.

“That’s as good as I have seen Liverpool for a long time.”

“I am thinking about Burnley and Southampton’s. Some of the rubbish we have been watching in recent weeks. It just has been a pale shadow of Liverpool.

“Jurgen Klopp came out after the Man City game and said ‘we played really well’. He was very positive. I think he will be even more so after today.”

Liverpool looked to be back in form with the way how they played in the first half but Leicester were able to see out that phase and then hit back with three quick-fire goals.

And the Merseyside outfit suffered this loss primarily because their forwards were not clinical enough in front of goal. The likes of Mo Salah got several chances to score in the first half but they failed to convert any.

By the end of the game, Liverpool had 15 attempts on goal out of which they could manage to put only one in the back of the net whereas Leicester scored three goals from their 11 attempts.

The Premier League title has more or less slipped away from Liverpool’s hands so now Klopp will have to shift his focus to the Champions League as they take on RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 in midweek.
