Man United lost to Leicester City at home on Tuesday night meaning teams like Liverpool and West Ham United have stumbled majorly in their hopes of a top-four finish.

The three points to Leicester means Brendan Rodgers’ side have moved to the third spot on the Premier League table and barring a major catastrophe, they should be able to secure a Champions League spot for the next season.

Liverpool still have a game in hand though but that one is against Manchester United on Thursday and if Jurgen Klopp’s side fails to pick up a win in that match then they will have to be satisfied with a place in the Europa League next season.

Some people like Trevor Sinclair have come out to slam Solskjaer for naming a B side against Leicester City and the former City man has also gone on to suggest a points deduction for Man United.

The Liverpool manager though has been much more sympathetic towards Ole suggesting that if he was handed such a tight schedule, even he would have chosen to make so many changes.

Klopp told a news conference: “It was the lineup that I expected because I knew he had to make changes.

“They play on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and I’ve said this many times, with all the things that happened, to play Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday is a crime. It’s not the fault of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the players, so if it was me, would I have done the same? Yes.

“We are late in the season, United make it through to the European final and now you get Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday, that’s not possible. I’m not the guy who makes the fixture list but when we thought about how it could work out on the day the game got cancelled, we made out fixtures on the bus and there was no Tuesday-Thursday games.

“But that didn’t happen and the explanation from the Premier League was that no other teams should suffer because of what happened in Manchester but that didn’t work out pretty well.

“But, if we don’t qualify for the Champions League, it is not the fault of Ole Gunnar’s Solskjaer’s team selection or the Premier League — it is our fault.”

Manchester United have been allotted three games in a span of five days which is absolutely inhuman. So it was well within Ole’s rights to make 10 changes to his starting line-up on Tuesday.

Also, Man United fans will not be too happy if their side lost to arch-rivals Liverpool so naturally, Solskjaer was saving all his big guns for Thursday night’s game.
