Liverpool suffer an injury setback right before they take on Everton in the PL: Who’s out?

Xherdan Shaqiri Liverpool

Liverpool will be without Xherdan Shaqiri when they take on local rivals Everton next week in the English Premier League.

The Merseyside Derby is the first game for Klopp’s side after the resumption and they will have a chance to wrap up the league title at Goodison Park, depending on what happens during the Man City vs Arsenal game in midweek.

But as things stand, the Swiss international will not be a part of the matchday squad since he has not been involved in training in recent times due to a muscle issue.

Shaqiri has not taken part in training and he’s neither played in the friendly vs Blackburn Rovers which clearly indicates the player is not ready to start for Liverpool against Everton.

During the 2019-20 season, Xherdan Shaqiri has kind of fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool having played in just six Premier League games so far and there have been numerous talks of him looking to secure an exit during the upcoming transfer window.

This injury will be sort of a personal problem for the player since Jurgen Klopp will anyways name Mo Salah on the right-wing so the German boss is not too worried over the Shaqiri’s injury.

Liverpool though aren’t the only side hit with injury news since Everton will be without Theo Walcott after the player had to undergo surgery and will be out for at least a month.

The official report from Everton confirmed: “Theo Walcott is set to miss the restart of the Premier League season after undergoing surgery.

“The 31-year-old Everton forward had abdominal surgery on Monday evening, having developed symptoms following the first team’s return to training.

“He has now started his rehabilitation under the care of the Club’s medical team and is expected to make a return to training in four weeks.”
