Klopp explains how the international break can actually help Liverpool beat Arsenal: Too optimistic?

Liverpool managed to pick up two wins on the trot right before the international break but many pundits feel this unexpected break might once again halt their progress. And with a key Premier League game against Arsenal coming up this weekend, the Anfield outfit might once again find it hard to get their rhythm back.

But, contrary to all these statements, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come out to admit that this international break might have come as a blessing in disguise for his side. A lot of the Liverpool players were involved with their respective national sides last week and their good form is likely to seep into the Liverpool team as well.

“Yeah, absolutely,” the boss said, when asked was Jota’s national form can help Liverpool as well.

“Diogo is obviously in a good moment. He was before he left and showed that again in the international break.

“Yes, these are the rare benefits of an international break from a club point of view! But it is good. Shaq played really well for Switzerland, scored there as well and had some success. Thiago played a good role in the Spanish games, not in the last one but in the one before when he came on.

“So yes, there are benefits of it but they are not a lot. But now they are back and they are all healthy [and] some of them had real success.

“Scotland obviously played pretty well, Wales had a surprise, maybe a surprise, [getting] three points against Czech Republic. So a lot of things were going on and we were here, waiting and training. Now they are back, now we train again and go again.”

Diogo Jota was the pick of the Liverpool players during the break and even though Roberto Firmino has returned from injury, the Portuguese international is more or less a guaranteed starter against Arsenal on Saturday.

As far as the other players are concerned they too should have benefitted from the lack of rigorous domestic pressure in the past one and a half weeks.

But, on the flip side, all the players who were involved in national duty will be exhausted from the tight schedule and this fatigue could be a major problem when Liverpool take on Arsenal.

Also, to make matters worse, Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League next week so Jurgen Klopp will have to make that none of his players pick up unwanted injuries on Saturday.
