Are Liverpool crumbling under Manchester City’s pressure?

Liverpool have drawn their past two games and with that, the Reds have squandered the golden opportunity to open up a substantial lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Last week, Liverpool drew their game against Leicester City during a snowy midweek fixture and then again the same thing happened this Monday against West Ham United.

The Anfield outfit took the lead at the London Stadium through a controversial goal but the Hammers quickly brought themselves back level.

West Ham United wasted a number of chances as Liverpool just looked helpless during most of the game.




And after this draw, voices have started to emerge that Manchester City have peaked at the right time and the Reds are beginning to show cracks.

Many pundits feel Liverpool will crumble under pressure and Pep Guardiola’s men will eventually be able to defend their Premier League title with considerable ease.

But speaking after the draw vs West Ham, Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has claimed that the Anfield outfit are not under any kind of pressure.




“I wouldn’t say nerves are showing,” said the 24-year-old.




“Did anyone say that when City dropped points against (Crystal) Palace and Leicester (in December)? I don’t think they did. It’s no different for us — people talk about pressure because we’ve not been in this position, but it’s February.

“Everyone needs to relax and try and enjoy the run-in. Many other clubs want to be in the position we’re in just now. Nerves aren’t showing in the changing room.

“It’s been two poor results and poor performances, it happens during a long season.




“We need to get back to playing the better football we can, but it’s nothing to do with nerves.




“We’re having a wee blip and we need to just try and get over the line in a couple of games.

“We’ve got quite a few injuries and we need to try and get the boys back fit, but we’ve recruited and have a big enough squad that we should be able to deal with it.”
