Liverpool went into the Brighton game hoping to pick up an easy win, especially after their thumping win last weekend against Manchester United.
But the unpredictability of the Premier League has once again pushed Liverpool to drop points as the Seagulls have managed to come from two goals down to draw 2-2 on Saturday.
Liverpool went 2-0 up within the 24th minute and they were teeing up for another big-margin win. But, Potter’s side managed to claw things back and had it not been for a ruled-out goal, Brighton could very easily have managed to turn things around.
The draw means the Anfield outfit are now three points behind league leaders Chelsea and with this dented confidence they head into Europe where they take on Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Liverpool player ratings vs Brighton:
Alisson: 6.5/10
The Brazilian keeper was busy primarily in the second half as he had to make four saves along with 15 recoveries. Overall, he was the busier of the two keepers.
Alexander-Arnold: 7/10
Had a pretty decent game making a total of 78 passes and winning two duels. He had one shot throughout the match but that was not on target.
Konate: 6.8/10
Surprisingly, the summer signing was the better of the two centre-backs against Brighton, making three clearances and winning as many as six duels. Konate also made four interceptions and five recoveries.
Van Dijk: 6.2/10
Going by his standards, Van Dijk had an average day as he had to leak in two goals, despite his side being 2-0 up. The Dutch international won only one duel throughout the game and had the same number of clearances.
Robertson: 6/10
He was another weak link in the backline, picking up a yellow card. In defence, the Scott lost three duels and made only one headed clearance. He did not have much to provide in attack either as he put in only two accurate crosses.

Curtis Jones: 6.6/10
The midfielder had a passing success rate of 97 but most of his passes were sideways. He made 65 passes while he was on the pitch and out of those, 36 were in his own half.
Jordan Henderson: 7.8/10
Henderson was used in defensive midfield once again, ahead of Fabinho and the England international was the first goalscorer of the game. Overall, he had put in a very good shift.
Naby Keita: 6.2/10
Naby Keita recovered from that Pogba challenge to play against Brighton, only to pick up another injury. He lasted only 20 minutes on the pitch, being replaced by Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Sadio Mane: 7.8/10
Mane found a place in the starting line-up after being rested last weekend and he was the second goal-scorer of the night for Liverpool.
Firmino: 6.5/10
The Brazilian got to start ahead of Diogo Jota and it’s fair to say that Firmino did not justify his selection. He attempted four shots but not of them were on target. To make matters worse, he made only 19 accurate passes in the Brighton half.
Mo Salah: 8/10
After a superb display against Manchester United, everyone was expecting him to find the back of the net once again. While he did not score but the Egyptian did manage to chip in with an assist.
Liverpool substitutes:
Oxlade-Chamberlain: 7/10
The midfielder replaced Naby Keita in the 20th minute and provided the assist for Mane’s goal.
Diogo Jota: 6.4/10
