Liverpool take on Brighton in the Premier League this weekend and this match comes at the back of a 1-0 loss to Inter. The Reds managed to process to the next round of the UCL anyways but Brighton are a team who have caused them trouble in the past so the Reds will have to be on their toes.

Liverpool have won their last 7 matches in the Premier League but Klopp’s side have not been able to beat Brighton in their previous three league meetings(D1 L2) so the German manager has some thinking to do this weekend. The Seagulls though are not in the best of form right now, having lost their last four games in the league.

The loss to Inter came at the back of some really good form but the Italian side managed to fluster Liverpool by playing some rapid and attacking football. Brighton are a side who are known to play a similar fluid and attack-minded brand of football so there’s every chance the away side might falter this weekend as well.

Another big reason why Liverpool might stumble on Saturday is that there is a COVID outbreak in the team which is why several first-team regulars might be missing when Klopp takes his team to the Amex Stadium.

Liverpool team news vs Brighton:

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that there is a COVID outbreak in the camp and as per the rumours, Ibrahima Konate, Van Dijk and Thiago have all missed training. We are not yet sure if these players have been tested positive but if Van Dijk and Konate are really missing then it’s a major headache for the manager.

If Van Dijk and Konate are out then Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will have to play in central defence and this pair might not be enough to keep the Brighton forwards at bay.

The manager said, as quoted: “We had a few little things but so far nobody is out of training[in terms of injuries]. On top of that, Covid is not over.

“These kinds of things we have as well. Or had, we will see. We try everything to avoid this but it’s not really possible.

“Players and staff who have had it now with no symptoms. That’s good but they can’t be involved. We will see. They come later today.

“We train a little bit later and they are not here yet. So far I haven’t had any news injury-wise. They should all be ready.”

Thiago could also be an absentee this weekend but thankfully, the manager has played like Naby Keita and Henderson who can come in and fill that void in the middle of the pitch.

Roberto Firmino is back in training and he could be in line to get a start against Brighton. Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota were really uninfluential against Inter so they could be rested when Liverpool head to the Amex Stadium.

Liverpool take on Arsenal next week and the Gunners are in peak form right now so it won’t be a surprise if Jurgen Klopp looks to rest some players this week, keeping that Emirates encounter in mind.

Liverpool predicted line up vs Brighton:
