Liverpool have managed to move within one point of Manchester City and this weekend they will have the chance to leapfrog over them into the top spot.

Liverpool take on Man City in the Premier League at the Etihad on Sunday and this game is going to be the talk of the town for this matchweek.

The Anfield outfit have done remarkably well to get within touching distance of the league leaders and given that they have won their last 10 matches, the Reds have every chance at picking up a win. Liverpool have scored 10 goals in their previous five outings and they are currently averaging 2.6 goals per match so we could be in for a goal-fest this weekend.

The Merseyside outfit have one foot in the semi-final of the Champions League so Jurgen Klopp can fully focus on the Manchester City tie. This means there’s no question of resting first-team players at the Etihad. The last time these two sides met, they played out an enthralling 2-2 draw in October and we expect nothing less on Sunday.

Liverpool’s team news against Manchester City:

Konate scored against Benfica in midweek but the defender is going to make way for Joel Matip in central defence.

Apart from this one change, the other three defenders will hold onto their place in the starting line up on Sunday.

Fabinho picked up a head injury in the UCL game and immediately there were doubts over his participation on Sunday. The manager though has doused all fears claiming that it was only a minor cut and he will be ready for the trip to Etihad.

Jurgen Klopp has also revealed that he has a fully-fit squad and this is going to be a major boost for his team selection on Sunday.

Klopp said, as quoted: “When I looked last time on my smartphone, it looked like everyone is available again.”

The forward line though could see a slight change because we expect Diogo Jota to come into the side in place of Luis Diaz. Diaz has been brilliant since joining Liverpool in January but we don’t think Klopp will want to throw him into such a big match.

The winger will most likely come in as a substitute sometime in the second half.
