Liverpool might have beaten Rangers FC 7-1 in the UCL in midweek but this win won’t mean anything if they cannot back it up with three points against Manchester City.
The Anfield outfit welcome Man City in the Premier League on Sunday and Klopp’s men need to win this one or else they are going to slip to the bottom half of the table. Liverpool are currently 10th on the table with 10 points which is why they just cannot afford any more hiccups.
Liverpool are undefeated in 23 of their last 24 home matches against Man City in all competitions but this Liverpool side is very much devoid of confidence right now. Klopp and his boys will definitely be looking to secure all three points but in reality, even a hard-fought draw won’t be too bad for them.
Liverpool haven’t picked up a win since the end of August and they go into this tie at the back of a 3-2 loss to Arsenal. Klopp also has a long list of injury absentees so setting up his best side will be a massive headache for the German.
Liverpool’s team news & injuries:
Trent Alexander-Arnold came off at halftime during the defeat to Arsenal with a twisted ankle and the right-back is going to miss out on Sunday as well. It was Joe Gomez who played in that role against Rangers and he will hold onto his place.
Joel Matip is out with a calf injury and will only return in November while midfielders Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are recovering from muscle and hamstring injuries respectively.
Late signing Arthur is also out with a muscle problem so setting up a competitive midfield is going to be really challenging for the Liverpool boss.
Curtis Jones has returned to training last week but we doubt if he is fit enough to start against a team like Manchester City. If Jones is not ready then Klopp will field the trio of Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago in the middle of the pitch.

Luis Diaz picked up a knee injury in the Arsenal game and he will only return to action after the World Cup.
Darwin Nunez did score against Rangers in midweek but his strike partner, Bobby Firmino scored a brace and also provided an assist. We think the Liverpool boss is going to put his faith in Firmino to lead the line while Jota and Mo Salah play as the two wide attackers.
Liverpool predicted line up vs Man City:
Predicted Starting Line up(4-3-3): Alisson; Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Gomez; Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson; Mo Salah, Firmino, Diogo Jota.
