Liverpool managed to pick up a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in midweek so they go into the Man United game on Sunday with their tails up.

The Reds did not have the perfect night vs Atletico but in the Premier League, they are on a roll, remaining undefeated in their last 18 matches. On the other hand, Man United are struggling to maintain their rhythm so Liverpool are clearly the favourites to pick up a win on Sunday.

The last time these two sides met was back in May and Jurgen Klopp’s men had won that encounter 4-2. The kind of form that the Anfield outfit are in right now, a repeat of that scoreline could very easily be possible.

The German manager has a few injury absentees but it will be of little worry since almost all of his regular players are in peak form right now. A win at Old Trafford could help them move to the top spot of the table(if Chelsea drop points).

Liverpool team news vs Man United:

Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk have reclaimed their positions in central defence so the defensive line is not going to be tinkered with by the Liverpool boss.

The midfield though could see some reshuffle as Curtis Jones could be fit in time for Sunday’s game. The Atletico game had come too early for him but he might be named in the starting line up at Old Trafford.

If Jones is ready then James Milner might be the one who makes way as the senior pro put in a fine shift in midweek but might not have the legs to play another crunch encounter.

Earlier this week, Klopp had said: “Hopefully, he[Jones] will make the final steps this week [and] he is ready for Man United.”

Fabinho came off the bench in midweek but the Brazilian will return to defensive midfield as Jordan Henderson moves further up the field.

Thiago Alcantara is recovering from a calf injury and the Man United vs Liverpool game could come too early for the Spaniard.

Naby Keita was one of the goalscorers vs Atletico but he was really poor defensively so the manager will be looking to push him back to the bench on Sunday.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane will operate on the two flanks but the Liverpool boss has a decision to make for his main centre-forward’s role.

Roberto Firmino led the line during the UCL game at the back of a hat-trick last weekend but for the United match, we expect Diogo Jota to come back into the starting line up.
