Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the new season as Nottingham Forest picked up a win at Anfield but Arne Slot will have no time to decypher this loss because on Tuesday night they will be in Europe.
Liverpool will begin their Champions League campaign with an away trip to Italy where they take on Milan and if the Reds are not focused enough, they could be looking at back-to-back losses.
Milan have had a mixed start to their campaign picking up just five points from their first league matches but at the weekend, they were in fine form, breezing past Venezia courtesy of a 4-0 scoreline. Liverpool are unbeaten in their previous five away games but Milan have been very strong at home recently and we are expecting this one to be a scintillating contest.
Liverpool’s team news and injuries:
Harvey Elliott is the only injury absentee for Liverpool’s Champions League opener so Arne Slot has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Federico Chiesa was expected to make his debut at the weekend but he is still not ready and as per rumours, the Juventus winger might miss the midweek game as well.
The backline is not going to see any changes from the Forest game but the forward line will definitely be reshuffled with Darwin Nunez replacing Diogo Jota up top. Jota has made two goal contributions this season but he looked absolutely toothless on Saturday.
Luis Diaz was average as well but there’s no way the manager is going to drop him to the bench. Even if Chiesa is available for selection, Daiz is going to be handed a start while the summer signing will be on the bench.
The Liverpool manager has found his midfield combination and Mac Allister, Gravenberch and Szoboszlai are all going to retain their place. However, Arne Slot is short on numbers in the middle of the pitch so if things do not click against Milan, he is going to struggle to make proper replacements.
Liverpool predicted line up vs Milan:
Predicted Starting lineup(4-2-3-1): Alisson; Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Trent; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz, Mo Salah; Darwin Nunez.
