Sadio Mane to return to the EPL

Liverpool take on AC Milan in the Champions League this week but in terms of the fate of the group, this match is a dead rubber for the Premier League side.

The Anfield outfit are sitting pretty at the top of the group table with 15 points from their first five matches – 10 points ahead of second-placed FC Porto. AC Milan though have everything to play for as they are third with four points meaning they still have a massive chance at qualifying for the knockout stages of the UCL.

With games coming thick and fast in the domestic league, Jurgen Klopp is sure to make a series of changes to his usual starting line up meaning his regular starters will get a much-deserved rest.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 3 matches against AC Milan in all competitions and with the kind of form they are in right now, we expect them to pick up all three points even with a second-fiddle side. Milan too are sitting at the top of the Serie A table ahead of the likes of Inter and Napoli but Stefano Pioli’s team is no match for the Anfield outfit.

Liverpool team news vs AC Milan:

Ideally, Van Dijk should be rested in midweek but with Joe Gomez an injury doubt we don’t think the Liverpool manager will walk that way.

Klopp will instead put Joel Matip on the bench and bring in Ibrahima Konate in the first XI. Robertson and Alexander-Arnold are both expected to be rested as Tsimikas and Neco Williams comes into the side.

Thiago played the full 90 minutes against Wolves during the weekend so the Spaniard is due a much-deserved rest. But with James Milner suspended and Curtis Jones out with an injury, Naby Keita is likely to come back into the side.

Keita is still on the sidelines with a hamstring injury but the midfielder should be fit in time to start. If he cannot be available for selection then Jordan Henderson will have to reprise his role in central midfield.

With Roberto Firmino out of action, rotating the front three is a bit of a headache for the Liverpool manager but thankfully he has the personnel to make things happen.

We doubt if Jurgen Klopp will risk putting both Salah and Mane on the bench so one of them is going to start alongside Divock Origi and Minamino.

Minamino has played only 43 minutes of football in the Premier League this season but with qualification done and dusted, the 26-year-old is in line to lead the line on Tuesday.

Liverpool predicted line up vs AC Milan:

Predicted Line up(4-3-3): Alisson; Neco Williams, Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita/Henderson; Minamino, Origi, Sadio Mane.
