Liverpool have been on a winning spree in recent weeks and in midweek, they pulled off a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, that too away from home. And at the back of this win, Liverpool will head to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to take on Arsenal in matchweek nine of the Premier League.

After the win over Chelsea last weekend, Liverpool are holding onto the top spot on the table but they will need to keep this winning run going because if they cannot pick up a win at the weekend, Manchester City will have the chance to dethrone them.

Without a doubt, this match will be a tough test for Liverpool but Arne Slot’s side will be the slight favourites, even though they will be playing away from home. Liverpool have won 8 out of their previous 9 games in the EPL plus they are unbeaten in their last 6 away games in the league.

This early on in the season, even a point will not be a bad outcome but with the kind of form Manchester City are in right now, anything other than three points and the Anfield outfit are surely going to lose their top spot.

Liverpool’s team news and injuries:

Alisson has been out of action since picking up an injury against Crystal Palace and the keeper will be on the sidelines for some time.

“He’s progressing well, like we expect,” Slot has updated on Alisson. “But it’s not a short-term recovery.

“It’s always difficult to judge him. I think the best way to judge an injury is in the end of an injury, the end phase of his rehab, and he’s not there yet. I can’t tell you how much longer he will be out, but don’t expect him to be in against Brighton in the cup or next week.”

Jota, Conor Bradley and Chiesa are also out with injuries and there is a very slim chance that either of them will be named in the starting lineup on Sunday.

“I think they feel good, but not when it comes to playing for us during the weekend,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“Federico might train with us today or tomorrow, but Diogo definitely not. Conor Bradley, let’s see if he can be with us tomorrow.”

Chiesa could be fit enough to be on the bench but with so many absentees, Slot won’t be able to make too many changes to the starting lineup which faced Leipzig.

Tsimikas started at left-back for their Champions League match but on Sunday, Robertson will come back into the first XI.

Luis Diaz will also return to the side replacing Cody Gakpo on the left flank but these two are the only changes we are expecting to see at the Emirates Stadium.

Arne Slot tried to manage the game time of some of his important players by taking them off early in midweek and hopefully, they are all ready and fit for the weekend.

Liverpool have played a fluid brand of football under their new manager but they were somewhat lucky to come out with a win over Chelsea in the previous matchday. The Blues caused them a fair bit of trouble and the Anfield outfit should be ready for a similar test against Arsenal.
