Liverpool are on a roll this season under Arne Slot and after 10 matches, Arne Slot’s side are sitting at the top of the Premier League table with a two-point lead over Manchester City.
They have just beaten Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek and fresh from this 4-0 victory, Liverpool are going to welcome a bit of a crisis-hit Aston Villa side on Saturday.
Villa are without a win in their previous four games across all competitions and even though they are a tough side to beat under Unai Emery, Liverpool should be able to pick up three points without much fuss. The Anfield have dropped points in just two league matches this season plus they have kept the most clean sheets in the EPL under their new manager. Villa will definitely give a tough fight but Liverpool at Anfield are a totally different beast altogether.
Liverpool’s team news and injuries:
Arne Slot has the same four injuries with Alisson, Chiesa, Diogo Jota and Harvey Elloit all expected to return only after the international break.
The Liverpool manager is already working with a very small squad and with four of his key players unavailable, Slot is not likely to make too many changes to the starting lineup which faced Leverkusen.
Robertson seems to have fallen down the pecking order and currently, it’s Tsimikas who is the first-choice left-back for Liverpool. Robertson will need to work really hard to get back his position in the starting lineup but for the unforeseeable future, Tsimikas will hold onto that spot.
If Andy Robertson does not come into the side on Saturday then the backline will remain unchanged for Liverpool.
Curtis Jones provided an assist in midweek so he will hold onto his place which means Szoboszlai will have to start on the bench again.
Luis Diaz played in the centre-forward position and scored a hat-trick against Leverkusen but with Darwin Nunez set to come in, the Colombian international will shift to the left wing, replacing Cody Gakpo.
It will be very harsh to bench Gakpo because he had a very good game in midweek but with Jota, Chiesa and Elliot already out injured, Arne Slot cannot afford another forward player getting sidelined due to a stress-related injury.
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Aston Villa:
Predicted Starting Lineup(4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Van Dijk, Konate, Tsimikas, Trent; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Jones, Mo Salah, Luis Diaz; Darwin Nunez.
