Liverpool seem to be cruise control right now as they picked up yet another win in the Premier League this time beating Wolves at Anfield.
Liverpool have won their last 17 home matches in the Premier League and next up they welcome Sheffield United in midweek – a match which should once again see them pick up all three points.
The Reds have been going through a really tough schedule during the festive period owing to which Jurgen Klopp might just look to rest some of his key players in midweek.
Liverpool team news vs Sheffield United:
Both Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip are ruled out with injuries meaning once again Van Dijk and Joe Gomez will start in central defence against the Blades.
But Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in their last 4 matches under the watchful eyes of Van Dijk and Gomez so there’s not much to fear for Klopp.
Wijnaldum could be rested against Sheffield as James Milner comes into the side alongside Jordan Henderson.
Naby Keita came off the bench against Wolves but the midfielder could get a nod to start on Thursday.
Roberto Firmino played in the No 10 role during the weekend but the Brazilian will move up to the striker’s role meaning Mo Salah will play in his usual role on the right flank.
Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the game against Wolves but the winger could drop to the bench in midweek as Divock Origi gets a start against Sheffield United.
Liverpool currently have a 13 point lead at the top of the table having played one game less meaning the Premier League title is theirs to lose now.
But the Blades have been a force to reckon with this season under Chris Wilder so the Anfield outfit surely have to keep things tight on Thursday.
Liverpool’s predicted line-up vs Sheffield:
Starting XI: Alisson Becker; Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold; Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner; Salah, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi.
