Jordan Henderson Liverpool
Liverpool's Jordan Henderson playing for England

Liverpool dropped two crucial points this past weekend in the Premier League as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham and next up, they will take on Tottenham Hotspur – a team which is level on points with them at the top of the table.

Liverpool are second on the table due to their inferior goal difference but a win against Spurs would ensure they move above Jose Mourinho’s side going into their game vs Palace next Saturday.

Going into this crunch game, Jurgen Klopp has a series of injury absentees and most of them are in the defensive department.

Liverpool are undefeated in their last 44 home matches in the Premier League but with a depleted defensive line, Klopp’s men might find it really difficult to keep the likes of Kane and Son at bay for the full 90 minutes.

Liverpool team news vs Spurs:

The return of Alisson is great news for Liverpool and the Brazilian will once again start in goal at Anfield on Wednesday.

Joel Matip picked up a back issue during the draw vs Fulham and we don’t think the manager will risk using him against a team like Spurs.

Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are already out injured so if Matip is not a 100% then Fabinho will have to be partnered by Jordan Henderson in central defence.

James Milner and Thiago Alcantara are also recovering from injuries meaning young Curtis Jones will get another start in midfield alongside Wijnaldum.

If Henderson moves into defence then Minamino is likely to get a starting role on the right-hand side of midfield. Naby Keita is out with a muscular injury and he’s unlikely to be fit in time to play vs Spurs.

Diogo Jota recently picked up a knee injury and he could to be out for around two months. This means Firmino will start up front with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah playing on either wing.

The Liverpool boss will surely be looking at all the positive aspects but with so many injuries, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Klopp chose a damage limitation strategy in midweek.

Liverpool’s predicted XI vs Spurs:

Possible XI: Alisson; Henderson, Fabinho, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold; Minamino, Curtis Jones/Chamberlain, Wijnaldum; Salah, Mane, Firmino.
