Liverpool are agonisingly close to winning their maiden Premier League trophy and it seems like they will be crowned champions one way or the other.

Right now all football in Europe is suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and on paper Liverpool still need a few more points in order to be crowned champions.

So naturally, there have been fears that if the league does not resume, Liverpool might miss out but now UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has claimed that the Anfield outfit will be declared the winners even if the remaining matches are not played.

Ceferin told Slovenian outlet Ekipa, via talkSPORT: “I see no way for Liverpool to stay untitled. If the championship resumes, they will almost certainly win it.

“Theoretically, it has not yet reached the guaranteed level, but it is practically close.

“However, if it could not be played, it would also be necessary to announce the results in some way and find some key on how the champions should be determined.

“And, of course, again I do not see a scenario in which that would not be Liverpool.

“I understand that fans will be disappointed if it happens in an empty stadium or even at the green table, but I believe they will win the title one way or another.”

While this news will be music to the ears of the Liverpool fans who have been waiting for 30 years to see their beloved club will the top division trophy but surely the Man City fans will be a bit heart done by.

Some fans and pundits have made it clear that if no more matches are played then the season should be scrapped but clearly UEFA are planning to walk in that path and right now we fear that if Liverpool are crowned the default champions then there could be a big revolt especially from clubs which are facing relegation right now.
