Liverpool head to Old Trafford on Sunday and Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Curtis Jones might feature against Manchester United.

Jones has been on the sidelines for some time with a groin injury but the manager has confirmed that he has returned to full training and is likely to be available for selection.

Thiago Alcantara though is not quite so lucky as the Spaniard still continues his recovery from a calf injury. This Sunday’s game will come too early for him.

The manager said, as per the club’s official website: “The squad is alright. We have to see, that’s how it is.

“We are only two days after the game and we have to make sure that we all get fit again, but they are the typical things. I couldn’t tell you now who is 100 per cent available and who is not.

“Just what’s clear is that Curtis will train today with us the full session, that’s the plan. And Thiago not. So, these are the two things I know for the moment.”

Will Curtis Jones start against Manchester United?

Curtis Jones has played in three Premier League matches so far this season and if he’s fully fit then there’s a big chance that he will be named in the first XI.

James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita started in midfield against Atletico Madrid but only Hendo is going to keep his place on Sunday.

Keita was really poor defensively and now that Fabinho is back, Klopp will put the Brazilian straight back into defensive midfield.

Against a team like Man United, the Liverpool boss would ideally want to use the experience of Milner in the middle of the pitch but that man is 35 years old which makes it really risky to use him in back to back high profile matches.

So, if Curtis Jones is fully fit then the 20-year-old should be replacing James Milner. The manager has started trusting Jones much more this season hence it will not be a problem using him in an away game against Manchester United.
