West Ham United want Dennis Premier League Watford Vicarage Road
Watford Vicarage Road

Liverpool take on Watford on October 16 in the Premier League and as per Liverpool Echo, Brazilian internationals Alisson Becker and Fabinho are set to miss this encounter.

The Anfield outfit are set to take on the Hornets in a 12.30 pm kick-off on Saturday but given that Alisson and Fabinho would be playing for Brazil during the international break, Liverpool had requested the game to be postponed.

The two Brazilians play for the national side just 36 hours before the Watford vs Liverpool game which is why Klopp wanted the game postponed so Alisson and Fabinho have a chance at playing on Saturday.

But as per the latest updates, Watford have decided not to back this move citing one main reason.

The report claims: “Liverpool have failed in an attempt to have the kick-off time of their Premier League match against Watford pushed back.

“The ECHO understands, though, the Hornets opposed the move given there is less than a fortnight before the game and many supporters will have already finalised travel arrangements.

“Both Brazilians will have to partake in a bespoke 10-day quarantine on their arrival back in the UK after a deal was struck with the Government that would allow players who have travelled to red-list continues to train and feature in matches provided they are fully vaccinated. Alisson and Fabinho are both double-jabbed.”

Liverpool went into the international at the back end of some fine form but if they miss both Alisson and Fabinho vs Watford then it could be a slight bit of discomfort for Jurgen Klopp.

Alisson’s absence means 22-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher will start in goal but it’s the midfield that could be a cause of concern for the Reds boss.

Liverpool’s defence have not been the most harmonious this season and Fabinho has been playing a really key role in shielding the backline. But if the Brazilian also misses out then someone like Jordan Henderson will have to slot into the defensive midfielder’s role since Thiago is still recovering from his calf injury.

And we are not so sure if Henderson can have the same sort of impact as Fabinho since he’s not played as a defensive midfielder for quite a while.
