Liverpool suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Arsenal in their previous league outing and next up, they will have another stern test in the form of Manchester City.

This game would usually have been a title decider in the last few seasons but this time Liverpool are sitting in the 10th spot whereas Man City are just one point behind league leaders Arsenal.

Chances of a title challenge are already looking bleak for Liverpool and to make matters worse, Jurgen Klopp is going to miss a whole lot of players this weekend.

Liverpool’s injury list for the Manchester City tie:

In defence, the home side are going to be without Trent Alexander-Arnold who picked up an ankle injury during the Arsenal tie and is not going to be ready for Sunday.

Joel Matip is another defender who is out with a calf injury and the centre-back is only going to return sometime next month.

Luis Diaz has been phenomenal this season but he’s currently out with a knee issue and as per the reports, he is only going to return after the World Cup.

The manager had recently updated: ‘Six to eight weeks, we will see. He looks like a quick healer, but we will see. Could have been worse.’

Diaz has come the closest to filling up the void left by Sadio Mane so his missing such a key game will not be great for Klopp and his plans.

Apart from all these injuries, the major cause of concern for the manager is the midfield area because as many as four midfielders are likely to miss out on Sunday.

Arthur is set to undergo surgery so he will be out for a long time and even Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are not going to recover in time.

Curtis Jones, however, returned to training last week which is a huge positive for the manager but we doubt if he is ready to play the full 90 minutes, that too against a team like Manchester City.

Matching Man City toe to toe will be next to impossible for Liverpool at this point in time so the best they can do is to make things awkward for the visitors so that they are not able to play their usual game.

With so many key players missing, Liverpool won’t be able to play their own natural game so they might as well play spoilt sport on Sunday.
