Liverpool and Swansea play a Premier League match that had goals written all over it. Swansea finally upsetting Liverpool by 2-3.

Liverpool looked dangerous right from the onset. But they had nothing to show for their dominance as they missed a lot of good chances to take the lead. Emre Can, Lovren and Lallana all fired wide when opportunities can in front of them. Both the teams went into the break level with Liverpool being the better side as per the stats.

No sooner the second half began the game took a different turn altogether. Swansea’s first Fernando Llorente scored the first goal of the match to break the deadlock and give his a slender lead. This was totally against what the run of play. He again found the net four minutes later this time being assisted by Tom Carroll via a brilliant cross.

After suddenly going 2 goals down in quick succession Liverpool rallied to pull the game back. Liverpool got one back in the 55th minute after Firmino planted his header into the back of the net from James Milner. The momentum of the match was with Liverpool now and they finally got their second goal thanks again to Frimino.

But somehow it was not going to be Liverpool’s day as their joy was short lived. Swansea went back in front again in the 75th minute, this time thanks to Sigurdsson. This was a rare Swansea attack as they had been pinned mostly to their own half in the second period. But they made this attack count as it proved to be the deciding goal in the match.

The win manages to pull out Swansea from the relegation zone and they are currently in the 17th position. While for Liverpool their title challenge seems to be fading away with every passing game and they are now 7 points from the top and Chelsea still have a game in hand.

Liverpool next host Southampton in the League Cup returning leg at Anfield. Liverpool are trailing 1-0 in aggregate in the fixture and they will be eager to but the tie to bed as soon as possible just to calm a few nerves after two uneventful weeks.
