Liverpool are back to winning ways with two wins out of their previous two Premier League matches, and next up, they take on Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek.

The Anfield outfit go into this game at the back of a 3-1 win over the Hammers but Jurgen Klopp does have a series of injury absentees so it will be interesting to see how the German names his starting XI, especially with a key game vs Man City coming up.

Liverpool are currently third on the league table with 40 points and if they can manage to pick up all three points on Wednesday then they go into the Man City game with the chance to bring down the gap between them to just one point.

Brighton will have their tails up after their 1-0 win over Spurs on Sunday but Liverpool are a totally different proposition which is why we feel this should be a routine win for Klopp’s side.

Liverpool team news vs Brighton:

Joel Matip has been ruled out for the rest of the season while Joe Gomez and Van Dijk also remain long-term absentees. And to make matters worse, Fabinho will also miss the midweek game.

Liverpool did bring in Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies on deadline day but we doubt if Klopp will want to hand them debuts against Brighton. So if the manager is not in the mood to experiment then Henderson will be partnered by Nathaniel Phillips in central defence.

Naby Keita is ruled out as he is yet to fully recover from his injury and James Milner is also expected to miss the midweek fixture for Liverpool due to a thigh injury.

With Milner possibly out, Oxlade-Chamberlain could come into the side alongside Wijnaldum and Thiago.

Xherdan Shaqiri has been playing as the attacking midfielder for Liverpool in their past couple of games but the Swiss could be rested against Brighton as Curtis Jones comes into the starting line-up.

Sadio Mane picked up an injury during the Tottenham game and is not expected to be fit in time for Wednesday’s match. With Mane ruled out, Klopp is expected to change his formation against the Seagulls.

Mo Salah who scored a brace against West Ham during the weekend will hopefully be partnered by Firmino up top.
