Liverpool dropped two points in the Premier League last weekend courtesy of a 3-3 draw vs Brentford. But thankfully, they got things back on track pretty quickly with that 5-1 win over Porto in midweek.

This win was much-needed since Klopp’s side will now face Manchester City in an all-important league match on Sunday.

The win in the Champions League would have done Liverpool’s confidence a world of good since the last time these two sides met at Anfield in the league, City won that match 4-1. Things should be different this time though since Klopp has an almost fully fit squad to choose from.

Liverpool are the only side in the Premier League who are still unbeaten this season but if they cannot pick a win on Sunday then they could slide down to even the fourth spot on the table.

Liverpool team news vs Manchester City:

Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk will once again pair up in central defence with Andy Robertson playing in at left-back. But the right-back role is going to be a cause of concern for the Liverpool boss.

The club have confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out of the Manchester City game with a muscle injury.

The absence of TAA means James Milner will once again have to slot in at left-back something which is going to be a major cause of concern for the Reds boss.

Thiago is also on the sidelines and like Alexander-Arnold, he too is not going to be fit for the City game.

Talking to the club’s official website, Klopp said: “No ‘news’ means they are doing well but they won’t have enough time for being back against City, but I expect them both to be back after the international break.

“But we have a good team so we still have solutions and we have to use them and yeah, after the international break the boys will be back I think.”

Curtis Jones has been really impressing in midfield in the previous few games so Klopp could be bold enough to keep him in the side along with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

If Jones gets a start then Naby Keita will have to be content with a place on the bench.

Roberto Firmino seems to have fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool this season as Klopp is clearly putting his faith in Diogo Jota. Jota is once again going to lead the line on Sunday with Salah and Mane playing on either wing.
