Liverpool dropped points once again in the Premier League, this time being held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United at Elland Road. And these two dropped points mean Liverpool are now seventh on the league table.

Next up, they take on Newcastle United and under normal circumstances we would have put our money on Liverpool to pick up a win but given how they have been performing this season, we just can’t put the Magpies too far away from picking up something from this game.

Also, Newcastle United have been in stellar form over the past few weeks, losing just one match in their previous five outings and their win against West Ham United last weekend more or ensured their stay in the top division for one more season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are still two points behind the fourth spot so they will need to win this weekend’s game if they wish to remain in the hunt for Champions League football next season. Now that they have been knocked out of this year’s UCL, they need to finish in the EPL top-four to ensure they remain among Europe’s elites.

Liverpool team news vs Newcastle United:

The manager chose to bring Fabinho back into central defence after Nat Phillips picked up a thigh injury. And if the youngster isn’t fit in time then Fabinho will once again have to pair up with Ozan Kabak.

If Fabinho is moved into central defence against Newcastle United then Thiago is expected to play in defensive midfield. Jordan Henderson is a long-term absentee with a groin problem while Curtis Jones is also on the sidelines with an injury.

So if Fabinho is playing as a defender on Saturday then someone like Oxlade-Chamberlain or Naby Keita could come into the side for Liverpool. Against Leeds, Jurgen Klopp used James Milner alongside Wijnaldum and the manager could have the same arrangement this weekend as well.

Sadio Mane finally ended his goal-drought against Leeds United and he will start on the left wing but Mo Salah was on the bench at Elland Road with Jota playing on the right-hand side.

It will be interesting to see if the Egyptian international comes back into the sides this weekend or does Liverpool boss stick with the same front-three that played against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Mo Salah might not be in the best of forms this season but the winger still remains a very big threat so we hope the manager reinstates him into the starting line-up on Saturday.
