Liverpool take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16 this week and Jurgen Klopp will be urging his players to come out with a positive result by any means necessary.

The Reds hold a 2-0 advantage from the first leg of the tie but the Premier League side have won just one match since that away fixture and there are big fears that the German club could be in line to stage a remarkable comeback at Budapest.

Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 8 matches in the Champions League but these records don’t mean anything given the kind of poor form that the English side have fallen into recently.

Klopp’s side are currently eighth on the league table so winning the Champions League this time around might be the best possible way for his side to remain amongst the European elite next season.

Liverpool team news vs RB Leipzig:

Ozan Kabak missed the loss to Fulham due to an injury but the latest updates claim the player should be fit to take on RB Leipzig at Budapest.

This is great news for the Liverpool boss since Fabinho is already back to full fitness and if Kabak is also returning then the Reds will have a pretty solid defensive partnership on Wednesday evening. If Kabak is not ready in time then it will be Nathaniel Phillips who will partner Fabinho.

Both Thiago and Curtis Jones were rested during the weekend but the pair will come back into the starting line-up in midweek alongside Gini Wijnaldum.

Roberto Firmino was another absentee vs Fulham due to an injury but he too is likely to be fit for the Leipzig game. If the Brazilian is fit enough to start then Mo Salah can return to his usual right-wing role, in which case Xherdan Shaqiri will miss out.

Sadio Mane was also rested from the start against Fulham but the winger will return to the side, replacing Diogo Jota on the left-hand side of attack.

There’s also a chance that Jota could play the centre-forward’s role in midweek but we don’t think the manager will take this risk since the summer signing has just returned from a big injury lat-off.

UPDATE: Roberto Firmino has not trained with the squad on Tuesday meaning he is likely to miss the second leg vs RB Leizpig.
