Liverpool team news vs Sheffield United: Milner & Fabinho to return?

Sadio Mane playing for Liverpool

Liverpool have seen a slump in form in the past few weeks and right now they are sixth on the league table – 19 points behind leaders Man City.

They have suffered losses in each one of their previous four Premier League games, with their last match ending with a scoreline of 2-0 in the Merseyside. Thankfully, Jurgen Klopp’s side will have the chance to redeem themselves and get back to winning ways as the Reds take on Sheffield United on Sunday, a team who have won just three matches this season in the league.

Liverpool have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3 matches and even though Sheffield United are the bottom-placed side in the league but still they will go into this match with a lot of hope as they have nothing much to lose.

The likes of Everton, Spurs and Aston Villa are all beneath Liverpool on the league table but all these three sides have games in hand so if Liverpool fail to beat the Blades on Sunday then they could even fall to as low as ninth on the table.

Liverpool team news vs Sheffield United:

Alisson’s participation in this match remains a doubt since the Brazilian recently lost his father in a tragic accident. If the Brazilian is not available then Kelleher will start in goal.

Fabinho and James Milner will be back in training on Saturday so it’s still unsure if they will be ready for Sunday’s match or not.

If Fabinho is not fit to play then it could be a bit of a headache for Klopp as Jordan Henderson is also ruled out, at least till the international break. This means Ozan Kabak could be partnered by Nat Phillips in central defence.

James Milner might not be a big miss for Liverpool because Curtis Jones has really shone in midfield, alongside Thiago and Gini Wijnaldum.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah more or less select themselves on either wing but the position of Roberto Firmino might be in danger with Diogo Jota coming back from injury.

Jota has missed the last 17 matches due to an injury but he’s already trained twice with the first-team this week so he is in contention to start against the Blades on Sunday.
