Liverpool have been one of the more muted clubs during the ongoing transfer window and according to Jamie Carragher, his former side will not be too busy for the rest of the time either.

This summer, Liverpool have managed to make only one major signing in the form of Ibrahima Konate and according to the pundit, the Anfield outfit are likely to see one more first-team arrival before deadline day.

“You want the team to evolve. And you don’t want drastic change, revolution, and seven players have to go out because they’ve all come to the end at the same time,” Carragher, speaking at a Soccer Aid event, as quoted.

“You want Wijnaldum to stay but I can understand it from the club’s point of view as well: there are a lot of players in that midfield getting to that age and maybe you want younger blood; more room for Curtis Jones, maybe, who is another player who will come in.

“I can understand it from both situations but there are a lot of players at that stage of two years to go with Liverpool around that 28-to-30 mark and we have possibly seen the first two or three of that (rejuvenation) with Jota and Konate coming in.

“I think there maybe one more before the window closes but over the next couple of years we will have to see a few more and that gradual evolving of that great Jurgen Klopp team will come to an end and hopefully he will be able to create another one before he goes.”

Liverpool lagging behind in the Premier League title race?

Clubs like Manchester United and Man City have already made or are on the verge of making some really fine signings. But, Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, is ready to put his full faith in the squad which performed so poorly last season.

Obviously, he will get back players like Van Dijk and Joe Gomez but his only signing so far has been a central defender despite the fact that his attackers were really average last time around.

The one remaining signing will probably be a central midfielder who will come in to replace Gini Wijnaldum who went to PSG as a free agent.

Obviously, Liverpool’s starting XI is still world-class but if these players cannot perform then Jurgen Klopp will have to put his faith in youngsters like Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones, something which isn’t enough to challenge the English heavyweights and win the Premier League.
