Liverpool dealt with another injury blow as they prepare for Leeds United: Four first-team players missing?

Liverpool take on Leeds United in their first Premier League game after the international break and Jurgen Klopp could have major selection headaches for this game.

Before the break, Roberto Firmino had picked up a hamstring injury and we are still not sure if he will be fully fit to travel to Elland Road or not.

And during the international break, Takumi Minaminao’s name was added to the injury list as he withdrew from the Japan squad and now he is expected to miss next Sunday’s league game.

Midfielder Takumi Minamino (Liverpool FC) has been withdrawn from the team due to an injury at SAMURAI BLUE, which is active for the Asian final qualifying (Road to Qatar) China national team match,” read a statement from the Japan FA (as quoted).

“We will inform you of additional convened players to replace Minamino as soon as they are decided.”

If this was not enough then the Guinean government has now been overthrown by their military and midfielder Naby Keita is now stuck in his homeland.

Keita is currently with the Guinea national side amidst a coup but Liverpool are trying really hard to bring him back to England.

“We are in constant contact with Naby and have had regular communication via his national team management,” Liverpool said in a statement, as per Reuters.

“We are satisfied that he is safe and well cared for. Obviously the situation is fluid and we will maintain regular dialogue with the relevant authorities as we work to get Naby back to Liverpool in a timely and secure manner.”

Now to add to the woes, winger Harvey Elliott has withdrawn from the England U21 squad due to an injury.

A Liverpool statement read: “Harvey Elliott has withdrawn from the England U21 squad.

“The Liverpool attacker has returned to the club as a result of an injury that will prevent him from featuring in the Young Lions’ U21 European Championship qualifier against Kosovo on Tuesday night.”

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota are going to start in the attacking positions against Leeds United but if both Elliott and Minamino are unavailable then Jurgen Klopp will lose significant bench strength.

Liverpool have found their rhythm this season but if the manager needs to freshen things up against Leeds United, particularly in the second half, then he could be out of ideas.

Also, Liverpool take on AC Milan in the Champions League next week so Jurgen Klopp will have to rotate and rest him players against Leeds United.
