Liverpool beat FC Porto handsomely in the Champions League on Tuesday and now with this fresh momentum they take on Manchester City in the Premier League.

Man City, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of PSG and this came despite them being the better side overall throughout the 90 minutes.

City played some really zippy and attacking football but in the end, they have nothing to show for it. And according to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, this disappointment could prove to be a driving factor for the visitors on Sunday.

Liverpool are in fine nick going into this PL game but Klopp fears Pep Guardiola’s side are going to throw the kitchen sink at them this weekend.

Klopp said, as quoted: “It always helps, but against City it doesn’t help alone.

“We need much more things than only momentum and we need to play better than we did tonight.

“But that’s clear anyway so will be a completely different game. I only heard now the result obviously from the PSG-City game so City will want to strike back for sure.

“But we are at home finally after a few games without our crowd so lets give it a go.”

Man City played some really fluid attacking football against a team like PSG but in all honesty, Liverpool have a much more dependable and cohesive defensive line.

The likes of Matip and Van Dijk have picked up where they left off last campaign and even Fabinho is at the top of his game. So, in terms of keeping the City attackers at bay, the Anfield outfit can do a much better job than Pochettino’s men.

The only area of concern for the Liverpool boss is the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold. With Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling operating on the left-hand side of attack for Man City, Jurgen Klopp will have to be really careful with the selection of his right-back on Sunday.
