Liverpool picked up all three points against Burnley in midweek meaning they have finally gotten back into the top four of the Premier League table, overtaking Leicester City.

Liverpool and Leicester are tied on points but the Anfield outfit have gotten back into the top four due to their superior goal difference, partly because of the 3-0 win on Wednesday.

The Merseyside outfit wrapped up the points without much fuss thanks to goals from Firmino, Nat Phillips and Oxlade Chamberlain but despite getting the job done, Jurgen Klopp chose to be really candid about his players’ performances.

The manager said after the win: “Really good, really mature performance with not a world-class start, let me say it like this. In the beginning we looked quite a little nervy, our passing was really not accurate enough, we gave too many easy balls away and made it too easy for Burnley.

“But after around 15 minutes we found our feet back and then we played really good football, that’s true. It was very helpful tonight to play that kind of football, score those kinds of goals.

“We missed the two big chances maybe of the game in the beginning, but the way we played there already was really, really good. [We] scored a wonderful goal. Second goal from Nat, outstanding skill from Sadio, nice little chip and great, great header.

“And the third goal, Oxlade at his best. It looks like timing is right but [it’s] not done yet, we know that. Without that kind of performance, you have no chance here.

“Burnley is really too strong because the way they play, the way they went for our centre-halves obviously tonight, that’s so tricky to defend and the boys did really well and we needed each single good performance on the pitch tonight.”

Liverpool managed 20 shots against Burnley but they could only manage three on target and had it not been for some fine defending, Jurgen Klopp’s side could once again have stumbled in the top-four race.

Burnley had as many as four shots on target on the night and a combination of poor finishing and good defending ensured that Sean Dyche’s side did not take the lead.

Jurgen Klopp’s men play their final game of the season on Sunday against Crystal Palace and since this will be the final game in charge for Roy Hodgson, Palace will come out all guns blazing on the fine day of the season. But since this match will be played at Anfield in front of a crowd, we expect Liverpool to pick up an easy win and hold onto their Champions League spot.
