West Ham United are scheduled to take on Everton at the London Stadium on the 30th of this month in the Premier League.

But before this game could be played the pitch-side at the London stadium was supposed to be covered in claret instead of the usual green.

It was expected to be installed after the Saracens v Harlequins rugby match this weekend.

The Hammers had fought a battle with London Stadium operators E20 and finally, the Premier League outfit were allowed to replace the green mat on the side of the pitch with claret colours.

And this even got West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble excited who told the club’s official website:

“I believe the 2018/19 season has been a significant and notable turning point for this club,

“There is no doubt that huge strides have been made, both on and off the pitch. We have moved forward in a positive direction.

“Off the field, the increase in matchday capacity to 60,000 has added another dimension to the atmosphere. Meanwhile the naming of the Billy Bonds Stand – what a great day that was! And the new pitch surround in our club colours, which will be in place soon, are all things that have helped to grow the affection we feel here.”

But now it looks like there might be a delay.

According to Hammers insider ExWHUemployeethe carpet will not be ready this weekend and the club are now planning to unveil it for the West Ham vs Everton game after the international break.

He said on Twitter: “Just been updated that the carpet is now unlikely to be in for the Everton game (as originally scheduled) as it hasn’t arrived yet they are now looking at the next home game after as there is a gap (as we have a couple of away games).”

While most West Ham fans will not be too displeased since the club will get the international break to put the carpet on but there could be even more bad news.

When asked in detailed about this whole scenario, ExWHUemployee also went on to add that there is a possibility the Hammers could postpone the whole this until the end of the season.

The West Ham fans have found it really tough to adjust with the London Stadium ever since the club moved in a couple of years ago and just when they were about to see their beloved claret colours on the side of the pitch, there is now yet another setback.
