‘This’ player will not be staying at Liverpool for the 2019-20 season

Liverpool lost the Champions League final last year to Real Madrid and a large share of the blame laid on the shoulders of Loris Karius.

Loris Karius produced a number of howlers infront of goal which helped the Los Blancos lift the UCL trophy so the first thing that Klopp did last summer was to bring in a new keeper.

Liverpool signed Alisson Becker from AS Roma for a substantial amount of money which meant Loris Karius was immediately sent out on loan to Besiktas for the whole of the 2018-19 season.

But at Besiktas too, Loris Karius has failed to revive his career having conceded 47 goals in 34 games during the course of the season.

And now Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has predicted why the keeper has had such a poor season.

“He was at fault for the goals he conceded,” Gunes said.

“Karius has gone a bit stagnant, something is wrong with his electricity, motivation, enthusiasm for the game.

“It has been like that since the beginning. He does not really feel a part of the team, it’s something we haven’t been able to work out and, of course, I am partly to blame for this.

“Something is wrong, he has also been unlucky. [He] is talented but it hasn’t worked out and we have a problem. Let me put it this way if I still had Tolga (Zengin) available I would play him.”

Loris Karius is scheduled to return back to Liverpool during the summer but now the shot-stopper has revealed that he does not wish to return back to the Premier League for the 2019-20 season.

“This is a team game. I must not forget this, I am disappointed,” he said.

“Maybe we could have got a point. We have another game [before the end of the season] and a game to win.

“Then we will continue our preparations. I think that if all parties are happy and satisfied, I will continue. My contract with Besiktas continues.”
