Chelsea are currently out in the market looking for a new centre-back and it seems their manager has set his sights on Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic – as per reports.

Jovic joined the Bernabeu outfit from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer and the Spanish outfit ended up paying €60 million for the services of the forward.

But till date, the 22-year-old has turned out to be a major flop for Madrid having scored just two goals in 15 La Liga matches for Zidane’s men.

And just a few weeks ago, there had been reports that Zizou is not too pleased with the player and wants to cash in on him during the upcoming summer transfer window with clubs like Arsenal and Spurs interested in signing him up.

Now it seems another London club have joined the race to sign the Serbian international with Frank Lampard reportedly asking his management to make a move for Luka Jovic.

Will Chelsea be able to sign Luka Jovic?

The Blues are set to lose Olivier Giroud on a free transfer at the end of the season meaning Tammy Abraham is the only striker that Lampard can count upon next season. So, it’s no secret the manager is in urgent need of a new centre-forward.

And given his goal-scoring prowess at Eintracht, Luka Jovic might very well be the right man for the job.

While Chelsea will obviously enquire about the player in the coming few months but we don’t think Real Madrid will agree to a move since Zidane might have had a change of heart.

Up until recently, the Real Madrid boss was willing to sell Jovic off but now he reportedly wants to give the striker one more season to prove himself at the Bernabeu.

Madrid were expected to make a move for Erling Haaland in the summer but it seems like the youngster’s exit clause will not be activated until January.

This means the Los Blancos will have to wait for one more season before they can bring in Haaland which is why the club wants to hold onto Luka Jovic as a backup to Karim Benzema.

So while we agree that Jovic will be the perfect signing for Chelsea and the Blues also have the financial muscle to do so, but we do not expect Madrid to put him up for sale in the summer.
