Luka Modric is set to become a free agent at the end of this season and according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, he could be joining Premier League side Manchester City.

Modric’s current deal with Madrid expires in the summer but the Los Blancos are keen to make him sign a new deal. But as per the report, the Croatian is not happy with the terms of the contract and there’s a possibility that he could be on his way out of Spain.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the ex-Spurs man and if his contract talks with Madrid fall flat then Manchester City are ready to offer him a way out.

Can Modric shine at Premier League?

Luka Modric is currently 36 years old but during the 2021/22 season, the midfielder has played in 14 La Liga matches, providing four assists.

He along with Toni Kroos are still pulling all the strings in the middle of the pitch and currently, he has a rating of 7.48 out of 10. It’s not a surprise that Florentino Perez is so eager to hold onto the midfielder beyond the summer.

Modric has aged like fine wine and if he was to join a team like Manchester City, there’s no doubt that he will shine and massive a real positive impact.

Are Manchester City serious about signing Luka Modric?

This transfer gossip might excite several Man City fans but we don’t think Pep Guardiola is serious about signing the Croatian.

City’s midfielder is fully packed, so much so that they did not have a spot for the ageing David Silva. And given that Modric is already 36 years old, there’s no way the Etihad outfit are going to make a move for him at the end of this season.

The kind of form that Luka Modric has shown this season, the veteran would ask for regular game time and with players like De Bruyne and Gundogan at his disposal, there’s no way the Real Madrid man is going to be a guaranteed starter at Manchester City.
