Man United have gone down 3-1 at the hands of Crystal Palace in the Premier League season opener and speaking after the match, Luke Shaw chose to spurt out some much-needed truth bombs.

While talking about the team’s inability to give their 100 per cent on the pitch vs the Eagles, Luke Shaw also made it clear that Man United need to sign new players during the ongoing transfer window.

“We are a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad,” he told Norway’s TV2, as reported.

“It can give us a boost. When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others.

“Possibly everything went wrong. From my point of view the pre-season that we’ve had altogether is not the correct way it should have been – we’ve had a week [ONLY]all together.

“We haven’t been able to prepare in the way that we wanted and that’s not an excuse because we have the quality of players to be able to win games like this.

“But we weren’t up to it tonight and we’ve been punished. It’s the start of a new season, we should have been fresh.

“We knew how Palace were going to play, sit in the block and try and stay on that, possibly all of their goals came from that. We paid the price today at times we were sluggish and weren’t at it.”

This statement from Luke Shaw just adds more fuel to the fire and surely after this embarrassing loss, the Man United hierarchy will now be scampering to make a couple of new signings asap.

Jadon Sancho has been linked with a move to Man United for the longest time but now it’s high time that the club move above and over their obsession for the Dortmund man, in order to, bring in some other players.
