Last season, Man City and Liverpool ran a two-horse race for the Premier League title and in the end, it was Pep Guardiola’s side who nicked the championship by a single point.
Chelsea came third on the league table last campaign but they could only manage to accumulate 72 points and the rest of the top-six clubs were also cluttered around that same points tally.
And most pundits feel that once again it will be Man City and Liverpool who will fight for the 2019-20 Premier League title.
But speaking before their game vs Spurs, Man City boss Pep Guardiola claimed that even the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United also have the potential to challenge for the title.
“I am really impressed with Chelsea and how they have played against Manchester United and Liverpool,” Guardiola said.
“I was really surprised by how well Frank Lampard’s team played.
“And we saw the quality United have upfront and the new mood around the club. Arsenal have bought good players too, so they are all contenders.”
Man City will take on Spurs this weekend and Pep Guardiola has predicted that like the other big clubs, Tottenham are also real title contenders despite finishing 27 points behind the Citizens last time around.
“Since I came here to England, Tottenham have been a real contender every season,” Guardiola added.
“The first season they finished second… they’ve always been there. They’re the second-best team in Europe.
“I can’t say anything against Tottenham’s quality, capacity and the possibilities of the team.
“They are a strong team, a good team and Pochettino has done an overwhelming job, extraordinary.
“My opinion of him is very high, he is a top, top manager.”
