Vincent Kompany insists that he won’t force his club to hand him a new or an improved contract.

He is confident that he will run-down his current contract before taking any further decisions.

The 31-year-old has been plagued by a series of injuries in the past few seasons but City’s medical staff are confident that they have resolved the muscular problems that troubled the Belgian.

Pep Guardiola will hope they are right as he failed to land another centre back in the summer.

He will re-address that position in January or the next summer when he plans to sign a marquee centre back.

Kompany, meanwhile, is adamant that he will see out the final two years of his contract before making a decision on his future.

“I’ve given myself the obligation to not think about anything regarding future contracts until my present contract is up,” he said.

“I’m really easy in my relationship with the club. It’s that good, there won’t be any panic on their side or my side.

“Let’s get the most out of these two years with City and international level and let’s see where we are at – no stress.”

Kompany has won over Pep after some fantastic performances towards the end of last season. He proved that he can still be an influential figure for City.

The Belgian has proved himself of possessing an authoritative voice but he also has designs on management.

He insists that he will not move away from football even after he retires.

“I don’t know where I will be in football when I finish, but it’s 100 per cent certain I will remain in football,” he said. “It’s my passion.

“It’s like studying to be a doctor, doing all your exams and thinking ‘I’m 32 now, I am not going to be a doctor.’

“I’ve played and lived this game since I was six years old so I don’t see a reason why I should throw all that experience away all of a sudden.

“I have got good contact with the younger people here and I just love bringing across my experience and how I see certain things.

“I have learned from the best from their mistakes as well as my own and hopefully I will be better because of that.”

Kompany is currently with the Belgium national team who have won both their World Cup qualifiers. He will return to England as City prepare for a visit from a rampant Liverpool side who won their previous game 4-0 against Arsenal.
