Manchester City and Pep Guardiola put up a tactical masterclass as they beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge by 1 goal to nil.

The Manchester-based side dominated possession and continue to attack Chelsea right from the first half.

Chelsea’s defence kept them in the game for long enough before a moment of brilliance from Kevin De Bruyne swung the match in City’s favour.

City did not look they could be put on the back foot even once throughout the game and held on comfortably for the win.

Here are the Man City players ratings vs Chelsea:

Ederson – 7/10

A couple of decent saves to keep out Hazard and Morata. Excellent distribution as always. Looked cool and composed even in a high-pressure match and Pep will be proud.

Kyle Walker – 8/10

Troubled by Hazard earlier on but improved and got much more solid as the game progressed although he was helped by the fact that Hazard moved towards the centre after Morata’s unfortunate injury.

John Stones – 8/10

Morata made a mockery out of him early in the first half quite a couple of times but the Spaniard’s injury meant that Stones had less of a presence to deal with and he impressed.

Nicolas Otamendi – 7.5/10

Solid performance in the game which included a diving header to block Rudiger’s cross early in the game.

Fabian Delph – 8/10

He was anything but the weak link for City. Smart on the ball. Solid defensively and got forward enough. Pep will be pleased he has a decent replacement for Mendy on hand.

Fernandinho – 8/10

Was one of the key factors behind City’s performance as he stifled the supply to their attackers. Could have been on the scoresheet but a brilliant save from Courtois was in his way.

David Silva – 8/10

He was a troublesome customer for Chelsea throughout the game as he kept splitting their defence, creating chance after chance and took a couple of good shots too.

Kevin De Bruyne – 9/10

Really turning out to be a big match player. Scored with an absolutely beautiful left-footed strike which was beyond saving. Controlled the midfield and built the base for City’s dominance.

Leroy Sane – 7.5/10

Had a tough battle against Antonio Rudiger and did not always come out best in it but he played his part in trying to always keep Chelsea defenders scampering for the ball.

Raheem Sterling – 7.5/10

The Englishman played a major part and continually found space on the right flank but his final ball needs to get better.

Gabriel Jesus – 8/10

Tough task to lead the line against a strong Chelsea defence but he did it well if not to perfection. Got in threatening positions often. Teed up De Bruyne for the goal.

Substitutes:

Bernardo Silva – 7/10

Some glimpses of class from the Portuguese after he came on to replace senior Silva.

Ilkay Gundogan – N/A

Brought on for Sane late to shore the midfield.

Danilo – N/A

Replaced De Bruyne to see the game out.
