Note: The recent controversy regarding Man City breaking rules for close to a decade has obviously been the talk of the town but we would like to keep that aside and focus purely on their next EPL match.

Manchester City had the golden chance to catch up with league leaders Arsenal but the Cityzens stumbled to a 1-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur. Currently, Manchester City are just five points behind Arsenal but they have played one game more than the Gunners.

In their next game, City take on Aston Villa and Pep Guardiola’s men will be eager to get back to winning ways.

Villa have been in pretty decent form as they have won three out of their last six league games and right now they are 11th on the table with 28 points. Unai Emery has come up against Manchester City four times in his managerial career but he is yet to pick up even a single point against the blue half of Manchester.

This Sunday’s encounter should be a regulation win for Man City but Pep Guardiola will be weary about the loss to Spurs. His players did not have the best game and Guardiola will be hoping that a repeat of that performance does not happen on Sunday.

Manchester City’s team news and injuries for Sunday:

John Stones is the only injury absentee for Man City at the moment as the England international is recovering from a hamstring injury. He is not going to make a comeback before early March.

Kevin De Bruyne started on the bench against Spurs and the manager made it clear that this decision was purely tactical. Hopefully, the Belgian will be brought back into the starting XI, replacing Alvarez in the No 10 role.

Joao Cancelo’s move to Bayern Munich means 18-year-old Rico Lewis has been playing in that role but there’s a chance we could see Nathan Ake move into that position on Sunday.

Phil Foden missed the Spurs game due to an illness but he should be fully fit and available for this weekend. However, it remains to be seen if the manager is ready to bring him into the side, in place of Jack Grealish.

Erling Haaland dropped one of his most average performances in a Manchester City shirt last Sunday but there’s no way the manager will push him down the pecking order.
