Man City are still playing catch up with league leaders Arsenal and next up, they have a very tricky tie against Newcastle United.

The Magpies lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester United last weekend but Eddie Howe’s team did put up a really strong fight at Wembley. While they are not particularly the favourites this weekend but it won’t be a major surprise if Newcastle cause an upset at the Etihad.

Man City have scored 12 goals in their previous five matches but Newcastle have kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League this season(12) so this one is going to be an exciting contest.

Manchester City played an FA Cup tie vs Bristol City in midweek and Guardiola rested several first-team players for that match. Almost all of them will come back into the side on Saturday.

Manchester City’s team news and updates:

John Stones should recover from his hamstring injury before the weekend but we don’t think the defender will be fully fit to start.

Guardiola has been using a three-man back line very frequently and but we think the Man City manager is going revert to a 4-2-3-1 system this weekend.

Kyle Walker will come back into the side after being rested in midweek and with Joao Cancelo gone, Nathan Ake is likely to play on the left-hand side of defence.

Rodri and Gundogan will also come back into the starting line up with Kevin De Bruyne playing in the attacking midfielder’s role.

Phil Foden was the star of the show in the FA Cup win as he scored two out of the three goals but Guardiola is most likely to rotate him with Jack Grealish.

Man City predicted line up vs Newcastle United:

Predicted Starting XI(4-2-3-1): Ederson; Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, Akanji, Kyle Walker; Gundogan, Rodri; De Bruyne, Grealish, Mahrez; Haaland.
