Man City have responded to their Champions League exit by scoring ten goals in their last two league matches but their next game will not be a walk in the park.
Pep Guardiola takes his side to the London Stadium on Sunday to face West Ham United and while they are good enough to pick up a win, David Moyes’ team will make life really difficult. A win for Man City will help them maintain their gap at the top of the table and will effectively push them within touching distance of yet another league title.
Man City have kept a clean sheet in their last 5 away matches in the Premier League and at the same time, the Hammers have lost four out of their last five matches across all competitions.
To make matters worse, the Hammers are winless in their last 12 league matches against Manchester City but they have scored in each one of their home league ties this season so Pep Guardiola’s side will not be able to breathe easy on Sunday.
Man City’s team preview and injuries:
Man City might have beaten Wolves 5-1 in their midweek clash but that victory has come at a cost because two players picked up fresh injuries in that match.
John Stones and Ruben Dias were already out of action and on Wednesday, Laporte and Fernandinho also joined that list with a knee injury and a muscle injury respectively.
Stones and Dias are out for the rest of the season and now it looks like Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte might have also played their last matches of the campaign.
Speaking about Laporte’s injury, Guardiola said: “Aymeric had a tough knock on his knee and we have just four days, so we will see how they recover for Sunday.”

These two fresh injuries mean Nathan Ake and possibly Rodri will have to pair up in central defence and against a team like West Ham United, this will be a major reason of concern for Man City.
With Fernandinho ruled out and Rodri in defence, it will leave a gaping hole in defensive midfield and Gundogan will probably have to slot into that role.
Sterling scored one and assisted one goal against Wolves so he will hold onto his place in the side which means Jack Grealish will once again have to be content with a place on the bench.
Riyad Mahrez, on the other hand, will come back into the starting line-up as he played only 13 minutes in midweek.
