Man City take on Everton in their final game of the 2020-21 Premier League season and Pep Guardiola is going to see the return of some of his key players.

Forward Sergio Aguero and full-back Kyle Walker both missed City’s midweek game against Brighton and Hove Albion due to injuries but the manager has revealed that the duo will be available for selection for Sunday’s game at the Etihad.

Ilkay Gundogan was one of the goalscorers for City in midweek but the midfielder was taken off in the 56th minute owing to a minor issue. He too is fully fit and ready to be called upon on Sunday.

“Everyone is fit,” the Man City boss said in his pre-match press conference. “Sergio trained yesterday and today a little bit and tomorrow we will decide.

“As much as he can play he will play. He’s been injured, trained two days partially and tomorrow will be the same.

“Joao can’t play because he was sent off. The rest are fit.

“I’m going to put the players out when I decide to win the game. We have six days until the UCL final, if one player is injured, unlucky, they can be injured today, tomorrow, the moment you put the boots on.

“Kyle Walker couldn’t play against Brighton because of a twist in his ankle playing with his boys – he is OK now.”

Guardiola will love to rest Kyle Walker before the Champions League final but with Joao Cancelo ruled out on Sunday with a suspension, Walker will have to start on the right-hand side of defence.

Aguero has fallen down the pecking order this season so there’s very little chance that the forward will feature in the starting line-up against Chelsea in the UCL final. This means Guardiola will look to give him a proper farewell by giving him maximum game time against Everton at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Everton game holds no real significance for Manchester City since they have already wrapped up the league title so the manager is expected to rest most of his regular first-team players just to protect them from unnecessary injuries before the Champions League finale.
