While Man City were sweating it out against Atletico Madrid, Liverpool made a pretty straightforward progress to the next round of the Champions League.

The Reds drew the second leg 3-3 at Anfield but they won the two-legged tie 6-4 and next up, they take on Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

The two sides faced each other last weekend in the league and they will go at it once again, this time at Wembley.

Liverpool and Man City have faced off twice at Wembley before this and both those matches went into penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. They played out a 2-2 draw last Sunday as well and there’s a massive chance that Guardiola and Klopp’s tactics will once again cancel each other out.

The Anfield outfit have won their previous four matches in the FA Cup but surprisingly, they have not been able to defeat Man City in their last five tries across all competitions.

Liverpool team news vs Manchester City:

Jurgen Klopp had the chance to rest several players in midweek and most of them will come back into the starting line up on Saturday.

Joel Matip and Konate are fighting for a place in central defence but only one of them will get a start vs Man City as Van Dijk comes back into the side.

Henderson was really average on Sunday in the 2-2 draw so Jurgen Klopp will have reservations about using him in midfield this time around.

Hendo and James Milner played in midfield against Benfica but both of them should move to the bench to make way for Fabinho and Thiago.

Diogo Jota picked up a knock in the Champions League game but the Liverpool boss has revealed that the injury is not of any major concern.

Jurgen Klopp said in his pre-match conference: “I said last night that Diogo got a knock – that swelled up slightly directly after the game, obviously while I was in the press conference.

“Diogo, good chance he will be alright but we need to have a closer look tomorrow. That’s it.”

Firmino scored a brace in the 2nd leg but he will move to the bench for the FA Cup semi-final since Mo Salah and Sadio Mane will be coming back into the starting line up. We expect Mane to play through the middle since that how he has been used in the previous few matches by his manager.

The Liverpool boss will want his best XI on the pitch on Saturday and since he has a fully-fit squad to choose from, Klopp will be the more relaxed manager of the two.
